I agree with Ross Douthat one hundred percent, correct justice is being over looked by our nation and Government. For a man to spend twenty years of his life in prison and then be executed falsely is ludicrous. The main objective should be to abolish the death penalty outright and find another way to handle cases like Troy Davis.
Capital punishment is a matter that should be taken very seriously and looked down on, and immoral. As a country are we executing the guilty or the innocent? Many questions began to develop due to this incorrect executing. Are there any other people serving unjust time behind bars? Are there any kinds of legal assistance programs set up to help an inmate fight for their innocents? As an American nation we should adopt a judicial system that we can trust with matters of life and death. This would reform the death penalty and give people locked up correct justice.
My idea would be that a convicted criminal should never be put to death for any crime. The system is basically part taking in the same thing the criminal did. Life is too precious and every American should not be robbed of that. I guess the saying innocent until proven guilty isn’t true. God Bless America
